An independent South African educational resource and custody advisory firm dedicated to advancing digital asset safety and self-sovereign key protection.

About Luno Security Guidebook

Company History & Official Registration

Luno Security Guidebook (Pty) Ltd is an independent private educational and technical advisory firm established in 2021 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The organization was founded in response to an urgent need within the South African digital asset community: while adoption of digital currencies and Web3 technologies was accelerating rapidly, practical education regarding private key custody, hardware wallet verification, and anti-phishing defense remained fragmented, overly technical, and fraught with vendor bias.

Since our establishment in 2021, our advisory team has delivered over 400 private security reviews, organizational custody consultations, and hands-on workshops. We have assisted private individuals, family trusts, legal practitioners, and corporate treasuries in building resilient, zero-knowledge custody architectures that withstand sophisticated digital threats and physical risks.

Our Independent Mission & Educational Charter

Our mission is straightforward: Empower digital asset holders with the practical technical knowledge, rigorous operational habits, and robust physical frameworks required to safeguard their own assets with complete independence.

We operate under three foundational principles:

  1. Absolute Independence: We maintain zero commercial affiliations, referral agreements, or promotional partnerships with hardware manufacturers, centralized exchange platforms, or token projects. Our technical recommendations are guided strictly by peer-reviewed cryptography, open-source auditing, and defensive best practices.
  2. Zero-Knowledge Operational Standard: In every consultation, client privacy is paramount. We teach principles, guide configurations, and audit procedures without ever viewing, touching, or storing private cryptographic keys or recovery mnemonics.
  3. Domain Grounding in South African Realities: We tailor our physical storage and estate transition guidance to South African legal frameworks, residential security considerations, and local fiduciary standards.
